Check out the Aplacophora homepage. It provides information about the group of animals to which Scutopus belongs.

For more scutopus on the series of tubes, check out the following:

scutopus is affiliated with Conrex Records, though things have since diffused a little.

my conrex colleagues are as follows:::
-Todd Jones makes hip-hop like you haven't heard before.
-The Jesse Stiles 3000 is a robot posing as a human who makes dynamic, tight tunes, and can rock the party that rocks the body.
-Blue Meniscus lives in a beautiful place out in the country, or at least his electronic music makes you think so.
-Fish has created some awsome websites for our little crew of music/electronic denizens with his BARE HANDS.

Label friends:::
-Epicene Sound Systems are an excellent label out of Dayton, Ohio, who aren't afriad to take risks with what they release, case in point my noise cd! Support those who make it possible for us to hear interesting music.

musician friends:::
-Time of Orchids call themselves party prog, which is not far off. Add some Godflesh and you're on target.
-Dylan Sparrow is involved with some of the best music to come out of New York that too few have heard.
-Friendly Bears play potent, compelling compositions with guitar, baritone guitar, drums, and trumpet.
-Forbes Graham does some wild electroacoustic extended technique trumpet work.
-Evidence makes electronic music that conveys a palpable sense of space, movement, and texture.
-Unbelievable Luck makes all the girls swoon with their rock flavors, and my friend and comrade Ed is the drummer.
-Jesse Krakow is a man of many musical hats--Time of Orchids, Fast and Bulbous (a beefheart cover band), PAK, and his solo 4-track work among them. His site has the exhaustive list.
-Jesse Lamb is a fellow e-musician who has a small, ocean-dwelling animal's scientific name as his musical pseudonym. However, since mine is a mollusc and his is a crustacean, I think we're supposed to have beef.
-Jarrod Fowler makes playful, challenging exposures of the guts of music and rhythm.
-Belacqua is what you listen to while walking home late at night: mournful, contemplative, comforting.
-Infidel?/Castro! are this insane mix of collage, metal, ambient, noise that are confusing in a very good way. Check their links page for the other excellent bands Colin and George are involved in.
-Hotels::: Travel.Romance.Solitude.Rest...
-Genghis Tron are an extraordinarily funf="http://myspace.com/dograndeur">Delusions of Grandeur (D.O.G.) was a high school band I was in. Two people, a keyboard and guitar. oh, and a four-track.
-We are the Musk Brigade is a band that doesn't exist, except for maybe in the virtual world of a passed-about four-track master tape. The link is an interview/creative-writing-exercise with the group (I played a little with them and supplied a remix). At the bottom of the interview page are links to the other crucial WATMB websites.

Writer friends:::
-Jesse Ball writes poetry that makes a space for the reader to visit and interact within.
-Andrew McIntosh picks his nose and writes with it, and then creates new genres with his toe jam.

Tee-vee:::
-ROBOSHITHEAD is the only television show worth watching.

Political friends:::
-The Abortion Diaries is Penny Lane's project to document women's experiences with abortion. The article 'The "A" Word' tells of Penny's motivation for beginning the project.
-The Iraq Memory Foundation is where mi amigo Ben Owen works. The Foundation is involved in many projects that work toward the larger goal of preserving Iraqi culture and history.
-Shades of Grey Media is working on a documentary on the money system. Interesting food for thought.

Fun friends:::
-in da club features visitor-created artwork depicting what it's like to be "in da club".

Musical tools scutopus approves of:::
-Elektron, makers of the Sidstation and the Machinedrum. (The only instruments used to make "Ganglion Rot" and "SPUT".) Now I finally have a Monomachine! The whole Elektron family of fun.
-Dave Smith Instruments makes the Evolver and its descendents, capable of sounds both ghastly and gorgeous.
